This coffee is collected from small farmers in western Ethiopia, in Nekemte, north of Jimma. It is placed on the international market by the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) in Addis Ababa.
Coffee is traditionally grown here in forest and semi-forest, in association with shade trees to ensure slow ripening of the cherries and high quality coffee.
Do you know where the name comes from? In Ethiopia, the jebena is the name given to the traditional earthenware coffee pot. Even today, it is used throughout the country to prepare coffee, and has become a national emblem for coffee.
