In Nicaragua's coffee sector, over 95% of households earn less than $3 per day and live without sanitation facilities or running water. In this region, farmers cultivate an area of around 5ha.

Cosecha Partners is a social enterprise born in 2012 from the desire to build a more sustainable local agriculture. Founded by John Gohring and Pilar Martinez, it is a pioneer in the development of an inclusive and regenerative agricultural supply chain for the organic food industry.

To date, the company has helped over 1,500 small-scale farmers. More than 50 small producers have gained access to financial facilities enabling them to pre-finance their production and develop their projects.

Cosecha also provides farmers with training in organic and regenerative farming practices, improving both the quality of the coffee produced and the sustainability of the land.

Between 2022 and 2023, Cosecha Partners distributed a total of $20,044 to FFL (Fair For Life) certified producers in San Rafael del Norte, made up of 50 families. The decision was made to use this fund for direct contributions, as part of a social protection program.

The fund has enabled households to meet their basic needs and necessities during a period of intense economic hardship, in terms of food, housing, access to healthcare and coverage of school fees.
