BOB-O-LINK CURUPIRA project
Curupira is a fantastic creature, protector of the forest. Very popular in Brazil, Curupira is the official symbol of nature protection.
Our partner FAF Coffees created this Curupira project to highlight the smaller screens (16+) of the Bob-o-link project.
We share the vision of FAF Coffees: "The true sustainability must integrate a concept of waste minimization. Waste as a producer and as a citizen living in a world increasingly confronted with scarcity must be considered as an aberration".
As the specialty coffee industry has grown, the largest beans have been sought. They represent for our farmers 40 to 50% of their total production, not even half! We want to help our farmers to better sell and enhance all of their coffees and to reach a "full profitability farm". 16+ screens represent 20% of their production. By working together along the supply chain, we can help farmers increase their overall income without having to raise prices on their higher screens if we help them have better markets for all of their production. These coffees are just as good and sometimes better, often with a higher density due to more compact beans. Our goal is to sell these coffees for 60% of the price of the higher screens. By this way, farmers and roasters can all have economically sustainable activities.
Our Bobolink Curupira are the smallest screens from family production of our coffee growers all working with sustainable practices. Valuing these high quality coffees with a more competitive price offers incredible potential to be more competitive with identical quality and offer new opportunities for specialty coffee (local shops, office coffees, small supermarkets, etc.).
