About this coffee

Our Iguana coffee is produced at an altitude of between 800 and 1200 metres. It is harvested by hand and its production is supervised by the Rancho Arriba finca. It is owned by Hector Jimenez, Matteo Franzinelli and Aldo Gorlani.

Rancho Arriba is one of the oldest farms in the Dominican Republic. Hector Jimenez, a leading figure in Dominican coffee and head of the Dominican Coffee Institute, controls the entire production process.

It is grown 2? hours from the capital, Santo Domingo, in the heart of a historic coffee-growing region, where the microclimate is ideal for the development of coffee cherries. It is grown under natural shade to ensure slow, gradual ripening, then harvested by hand.

The region Cibao

Located in the Caribbean archipelago, the Dominican Republic is situated to the west of Haiti. Historic landmark for worldwide coffee growing, the coffee estates extend across the central part of the island and can be found on the four mountain ranges, the Northern Cordillera, the Central Cordillera, the Sierra de Neyba and Barahuco. Small producers grow under the natural shade of pine, Inga and Guava trees as well as Macadamia trees, in order to ensure slow and progressive maturity. The San José de Ocoa area is located in the municipality of Rancho Arriba, in the province of San José de Ocoa, about two and a half hours from the capital Santo Domingo.
