"Tracking Process, Measure Success"

DiFluid was started when its founder, PhD student Linus Peng, discovered an old, outdated and little-known technology: refractometry, and realised the potential it could show if optimised and exploited in the internet age.

While light detection technology had become commonplace and powerful, refractometer technology had remained stagnant. Linus's idea was to combine the new technology with sensors, and the data collected by such a device with the power of a smartphone. The result was a revolution in liquid digitisation. Not only did this new method of refractometry create a more robust, faster and more accurate device, it also brought what had previously been an expensive laboratory purchase within reach of the consumer.

Whether measuring extraction in coffee or kombucha brewing, the salinity of seawater or the concentration of chemicals, the addition of a linked application for data calculation, recording and export has proved essential. To date, Difluid has been awarded more than 20 international and national patents in the fields of optics, electronics, algorithms, structures and system solutions.
