Owned by the Lasso family, this farm is located in the South Huila region, more accurate in Bruselas – Pitalito (Huila). This farm has 6 hectares and its managed by the Lasso family, starting with the father, Mr Jose Uribe and his sons Nestor and Adrian.
They have owned the farm since very decades ago and it has been the family business for their entire life. It was managed in traditional way up to some years ago when the sons of Mr. Jose Uribe went to the city to study in a training center of the town in coffee processes. They changed the traditional varietals as Castillo, Colombia and Caturra to Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon, Pink Bourbon, Geisha and others.
But not only the new varietals were the main decision of them, the changes arrived with new processes as Anaerobic fermentation, natural and better practices in the wet and dry benefit. It gave them a new perspective in flavors and consistency in the cup profiles, it allowed them to create new ways to do it and research with trial and mistake, at the end they are now able to develop protocols of fermentation and try to standardize similar results in the cup profiles.
South Huila is one of the most famous coffee producer regions in Colombia, this is part of the new Colombian coffee belt with many young people involved in its production with curiosity about processes, improvement in the benefit and new ways to go beyond the traditional fully washed Colombian coffee.
