Presentation of the project
What is the context?
We have been working with Odyssey Coffees in El Salvador for ten years. Our aim has always been to grow together, so we wanted to take concrete action to support the smallholders they work with.
What does the project involve?
For the 2020-2021 harvest, the Growing Together project is introducing a price differential per pound of coffee over 4 containers. As the Odyssey team is well aware of the needs of communities and producers, the idea is to use this money to carry out projects that are close to their hearts.
The "Growing Together" programme was born, with three main pillars: Environment, Community, and Sustainability for small and medium-sized producers.
What are the objectives?
The aim of the "Growing Together" project is, at the environmental level, to reforest the 4.5 hectare Ayutepeque farm.
For the community, we want to have a positive impact on the ecosystem in which the farm is located. 50 families will benefit from easier access to water.
Finally, in terms of sustainability, we are organizing technical training to help producers produce better quality coffee, by combating parasites and working on better cherry selection.
