Our Bonga Forest coffee is a forest coffee, grown in the shade of a rich environment. Harvested from local producers, it is then dried by Habtamu Abebe, the owner of the Matapa Michiti station.
The ancient trees provide ideal shade for the slow ripening of the cherries. The fertility and quality of the soil are preserved by sustainable, virtuous peasant farming.
After harvesting, the cherries are dried on raised beds in the sun for 3 weeks before being pulped. During these 3 weeks, the cherries are turned over regularly to ensure even drying and quality.
This Grade 3 coffee (a grade reserved for natural coffees) is the guarantee of a speciality coffee rated above 83 points. What's more, it's grown according to the principles of organic farming!
