About this coffee

In this incredible farm that is Las Terrazas del Pisque, Arnaud has created an ecosystem from A to Z:

By planting a forest in the middle of this arid and desert area to shelter his coffee trees with more than 25 different tree species, some of which are endemic, beehives for the production of honey, many honey plants that are used for produce essential oils to treat coffee trees naturally but also so that bees can take up residence there, fruit trees which have become a refuge for birds, leguminous plants which enrich the soil with nitrogen. These solutions for crop diversification, shade, natural treatment and soil enrichment allow him to grow his coffee with 0 pesticides.

Arnaud juggles preparation processes and variety experiments. His background as an agricultural engineer and his international experiences in coffee growing make him a unique producer.

Region Pichincha

Located on the Pacific slopes of the Andes at an altitude of between 1200 and 2400 metres above sea level, Pichincha straddles both hemispheres (latitude 0°, 0', 0''). Between lush vegetation and arid desert, it is a region of contrasts. It is home to the Chocó Andino Nature Reserve, which boasts the greatest diversity of flora and fauna in the country.

Pichincha is a new player in the production of speciality coffees. Concentrated in the foothills of the Andes at an altitude of over 1700m, small-scale producers wanted to diversify their cattle and sugar cane activities with Arabica plantations. So they planted a number of prestigious botanical varieties, resulting in some of the best coffee in the world!

A few words about Arnaud Causse

Arnaud Causse is first and foremost a man of challenges. For several decades, his passion for coffee has taken our travelling agronomist to the 4 corners of the world: Kenya, Costa Rica, Gabon, etc. He has also developed projects in El Salvador and the Galapagos Islands. He has also developed projects in El Salvador and the Galapagos Islands.

Immersed in the quest for excellence, he set up the Las Tolas farm, planting coffee trees in the heart of a natural forest. Then, after a spell in the Dominican Republic in Colombia and Peru, still working on coffee, Arnaud returned to Ecuador and founded Las Terrazas del Pisque, a farm in the middle of the desert.

Today, Arnaud has joined Belco and is the Transition Director, while continuing to manage his farms!
